「writing's on the wall 」とは「悪いことが起きる兆し」という意味で使われているようです。最近話題の「スターウォーズ」でもこれに似た名言"I've got a bad feeling about this."というものがありましたね。
自分がサムスミスの歌と出会ったのは去年の夏、留学先から帰る時に聞いていた『Stay with me』の歌詞が友人たちと別れなければならない自分の心境と重なって感銘を受けたのを覚えています。
今回の歌はジェームズ・ボンドという人の内面をサム・スミスなりに書き綴ったものになっていて、スペクターを見た後に歌詞を見返すと感慨深いものがありますね・・・。
